Aldi Shoe Review - Serra Wedge Sneakers
Updated 2024.07.24
Aldi sells many neat things in their housewares aisle, including affordable footwear for women.
For spring/summer footwear they have walking sneakers, sandal heels and casual sneakers for less than most brand names.
The Serra Ladies Wedge Sneaker is one of the recent options, and it is a black vinyl-like material, where taupe and green are available in suede/nubuck material.
All Serra Ladies Wedge Sneakers were retailing at $14.99 at our local Aldi.
A few of the benefits of these wedges
Free of branding
Zippered closures on the outside of the shoe
2.5” wedge heel
Padded heel collar
Smooth vinyl-like material
These wedge sneakers are a bargain and here’s what they looked like new, fresh off the shelf:
As you can see there is very little dirt on the sole, likely from being tried on in the store, but no sole wear whatsoever. Other than that, the shoes look crisp and ready to wear.
Because these wedges seem like an everyday shoe, below you will find an “everyday wear test” showing what they look like after a month of use.
A few rules for the everyday wear test
They were worn to errands out of the house
They were worn on around the property trips, such as walking from inside to the mailbox, around the yard, etc.
They were worn regardless of weather condition
They were not worn for outdoor sports like hiking in nature or heavy-duty dirty tasks like mowing the lawn, where you would typically wear other task-specific shoes
So after a month of every day wear, here’s what they looked like:
Results
As far as wear is concerned, you can see that the soles have clear wear and the ankle collar opening has stretched out.
You can also notice the toes of the shoe show fold lines where the shoe was bent while walking.
As a positive, the smooth vinyl material is resistant to moisture, so they strayed dry while walking around in wet dew and light rain. The zipper also did not inch down when worn and it is still fully functional after a month of wear.
The only caveat is these wedges are a touch narrow in the toes, and stay that way. So if you have very wide feet, do not assume they will stretch once worn, as in this shoe, the toes did not stretch out.
In the end, these shoes still feel like a great value after a month of wear and with a wet soapy rag, most of the wear shown can be cleaned up - with the exception of the bend lines in the toe.
Would this editor buy Aldi shoes again? Definitely, yes.
