This Le Creuset had a few scratches I wanted to remove before using it and I also was concerned that the scratches would lead to the enamel chipping, making my new pot unusable.

So I called Le Creuset and to my surprise, a representative answered the phone.

To begin fixing the scratches in your pot, start with a clean Le Creuset ~

How To Clean a Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven

Ensure your pot is at room temperature before cleaning.

If there is food residue on the pot, fill with warm water and let soak for 15-20 minutes and then use gentle dish soap, like Ivory, and a wet sponge or soft cloth to remove any debris.

If there’s no hardened food residue, use gentle dish soap, like Ivory, and use a wet sponge or soft cloth to remove any debris.

Next, dry the pot and it’s time to polish the scratches.

Simply sprinkle a little bit of it on the bottom of your dutch oven’s interior, pour a bit of water on top and form a paste by mixing it together using a soft toothbrush or a soft cloth.

Once you have created your paste, use circular motions and a soft cloth to gently polish out the worn in scratches. Polish until you are satisfied with the scratch removal or until your arm is slightly tired, choosing the latter option only for more stubborn scratches.

Then, rinse the paste off the pot, dry off the pot and admire your work. If you still have a few scratches, repeat the steps above for a second round.

After just two rounds of polishing, you can barely see any scratches anymore! Most are simply no longer there and of those that remain, they are much, much lighter than before.
